María Ester Paredes Martínez

María Ester Paredes M. is an attorney from the Universidad de Chile with extensive experience in judicial collection, insolvency, reorganization, liquidation of companies and matters related to the national financial market. She was Head of the Normalization Area of BBVA for more than 15 years.

She has been president of the Comparte Foundation since 2013, an organization dedicated to the inclusion of vulnerable young people with different abilities, with the aim of integrating them into society through music and art. In November 2018, she jointed Palma Edwards Veszpremy as a partner and in August 2020 she joined EDN Abogados as Partner.

María Ester is a Bankruptcy Arbitrator appointed by the Insolvency and Reinsolvency Superintendence by Exempt Resolution 385 of January 10, 2020.

  • Banco BHIF, Chief Lawyer for Judicial Collection: Position under the BHIF Bank’s Legal Counsel’s Office. In charge of the management of judicial collection related to large companies and individuals. Actively and successfully participated in the defense of civil lawsuits against the Bank between 1989 and 2000.
  • BBVA, Legal Counsel of Standardization: report to the Risk Division dedicated to managing the unpaid loans of Corporate Banks, Companies and Individuals of BBVA. Strategic management of the Judicial Collection of AFP Provida. Constant development of new collection plans and campaigns for products and sub-products. Strategic management and active participation in restructuring plans for large companies or corporations. Participation in agreements, renegotiations, syndicated loans, bankruptcy and related processes of large and small companies. Direction of bankruptcy proceedings and coordination and leadership of bank groups in bankruptcy processes. Participation in the design and development of software to control trials and other programs aimed at controlling expenses, control and monitoring of milestones in collection, management of control alerts. Implementation and disinvestment processes of portfolios between 2008-2014.
  • Founding partner of Paredes & Asociados, dedicated to advising companies in different areas, mainly corporate, insolvency, negotiations and civil litigation.
